Find Your Perfect Ring Size
Getting the right ring size is essential — especially for a surprise proposal. Use the methods below to find the perfect fit.
Method 1: Measure an Existing Ring
If you have a ring that fits the correct finger:
- Place the ring on a flat surface
- Measure the inside diameter (the widest point across the inside of the ring) in millimeters
- Use the chart below to find your size
US Ring Size Chart
| US Size | Inside Diameter (mm) | Circumference (mm) |
| 4 | 14.9 | 46.8 |
| 4.5 | 15.3 | 48.0 |
| 5 | 15.7 | 49.3 |
| 5.5 | 16.1 | 50.6 |
| 6 (most common) | 16.5 | 51.8 |
| 6.5 | 16.9 | 53.1 |
| 7 | 17.3 | 54.4 |
| 7.5 | 17.7 | 55.7 |
| 8 | 18.1 | 56.9 |
| 8.5 | 18.5 | 58.2 |
| 9 | 18.9 | 59.5 |
| 10 | 19.8 | 62.1 |
Method 2: The String Method
- Wrap a thin strip of paper or string snugly around the finger
- Mark where it overlaps
- Measure the length in millimeters — that's the circumference
- Match it to the chart above
Tip: Measure at the end of the day when fingers are slightly larger. Avoid measuring when hands are cold (fingers shrink).
Still Unsure?
When in doubt, size up. It's easier and less expensive to resize a ring down than up. At Nuar Jewelers, we offer one free resizing within 30 days of purchase (up or down 2 sizes).
